Dance has been an important part of entertainment, celebrations and ceremonies since the birth of the earliest human civilizations. The earliest structured dance types are Ballet and Ballroom, which began in Europe during 17th century. The African population took African dance to America, leading to the earliest formation of Jazz. However, Modern Jazz follows from Modern dance that was earliest emerged in Europe in 19th century, followed by Contemporary in 20th century. Most of the recent popular dance categories, such as Hip-Hop and Break dance, are influenced by the African dance.
